COMMUNITY PHYSICAL ACTIVITY ORGANISERS

Community Physical Activity Organisers (CPAOs) focus on being active as one of the 5 Ways to Wellbeing. They work with people who aren't currently active to find new opportunities to move more as part of their daily lives. This can include:

  • connecting people to the community and opportunities to be more active, in ways which work for them

  • working in Exeter's local neighbour-hoods with residents, groups and networks to support physical activity ideas to get off the ground, grow and keep going.

If you would like to find out more, pop along to one of their local activities. If you have an idea you'd like to discuss or would like to find out more about their work, get in touch with your local CPAO on social media.

HOW CAN WE SUPPORT YOU?

CPAOs can potentially offer the following support if you are looking to be more active:

  • Talk to you about your interests and priorities, to find new opportunities to be more active in ways  which fit in with your lifestyle.

  • Help find ways around things which might stop you being physically active (where appropriate).

  • Share information about opportunities to be more active.

  • Introduce you to an activity group, including going with you at first if you’d like.

  • Connect you to other people with similar interests, with your and their agreement.

  • Support and help you develop your ideas for activities.

  • Share information about the community you live in and the opportunities for people who live there to be more active, in ways which work for all of you.

  • Connect you to other groups, organisations or services,  if it is of benefit to you.

  • Support group work, which creates a safe space for people to come together to form an activity group, and to build social connections.
