Neighbours Connect

There are residential streets that simply exist and then there is Prospect Park. Full to the brim with couples, families and students all weaving through life, existing on a beautiful tree lined road in St James.

Opportunities to connect are never far away. In the summer, lively street parties to the winter months where there’s a magical glow of advent windows glowing in the majority of homes. Whatever the occasion, neighbours gather to celebrate, share food and exchange news and ideas. Over the past year, I’ve been part of the street’s WhatsApp group where residents share laughs, swap skills, take in Christmas parcels, gift each other furniture and preloved clothing that their children have outgrown. New neighbours are extended a warm welcome when arriving on the street and soon feel a part of a connected community.

One lovely resident approached me with a vision. We met at our local community centre, sat down with a coffee and applied for funding to install a Little Free Library. A resident and a Community Builder meeting and turning an idea into a reality.

In Prospect Park, connection isn’t just a possibility… It’s a way of life!
