A small group of parents have been coming together once a week in Pinhoe for a gentle buggy walk—a chance to get active, enjoy some fresh air, and connect with others on the same journey through parenthood. It’s a simple idea, but already, it’s becoming something special.
In my role as Community Physical Activity Organiser, I started this walk to encourage the new and the older estates to come together, especially with so many new families in the area. After door knocking with the local Community Builder, it became clear that a lot of new parents wanted something local in the area that would enable them to get out while also caring for their little ones.

Each week we meet up, buggies in front of us, ready to stretch our legs and have a chat. The route is designed to be easy and accessible, making it a great way to ease back into exercise without pressure. Some mums come for the movement, others just for the company, but there’s always a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Babies doze, watch the world go by, or babble happily, and for a little while, we can focus on ourselves—knowing we’re in good company.
We hope this group continues to grow into something more: a space where parents can come to feel supported, get active, and enjoy time outdoors without the worry of juggling everything alone. Whether you're here for fitness, fresh air, or just a break from the day-to-day, this walk is for you.
We meet each Thursday at 11am outside Pinhoe Surgery and our walk usually lasts for one hour.
