I wanted to share just how much of a difference Jemima has made since becoming our Whipton Community Builder.
I first met her at the launch of the Barberry Close little library and, right from the start, her energy was obvious. She’s incredibly friendly and has a real knack for getting people excited about making our neighbourhood a better place to live.
Jemima helps the neighbours to suggest ideas, and encourages them to get involved. We’ve worked together on a few different projects and it's been great to see the community come together.
She set up a neighborhood WhatsApp group and organises regular meetings where we can all get together to brainstorm new ideas. It’s made it so much easier to stay in the loop.
I came up with the idea of doing an Advent Windows Trail. We designed the posters together and I spent some time door-knocking and leaflet-dropping to get people signed up for the Widgery Road, Bennett Square and Barbary Close trail. It was lovely to work alongside her.
She has helped the street to organise community litter picks. As well as a successful Jumble Trail which we hope to do again in the Summer. Jemima has helped us secure funding for new plants for our road planters, which has helped people to take pride and ownership of the whole area.
Jemima is a breath of fresh air. It’s so refreshing to have someone who genuinely cares and inspires us to come together. She’s helped us feel like a proper community again, and we feel much more connected to our neighbours thanks to her hard work.
